Time/Timeouts
All four-player games will be seven ends with 21 minutes of thinking time per team. Mixed
doubles games will be eight ends with 23 minutes of thinking time per team. Each team has
three, 60-second timeouts.
Teams cannot quit early. The final rock in the final end must be thrown as total points scored is
used for tiebreakers.
If a team runs out of time, they cannot throw any more rocks. The opposing team can continue
to throw until they are out of time or out of rocks.
Pin Hole Bonus
In the seventh end only during all fours games and in the eighth end only during all mixed
doubles games, covering the pin hole is worth two points (i.e. the laser device does not fit into
the pin hole).
Tied After Regulation
There are no extra ends. A draw to the button will determine the winner of the match if a game
is tied after regulation. Teams can choose any player on the ice to throw the draw to the button.
The team that would have had the hammer in the extra end gets to choose the shootout order.
Teams can throw either turn.
If there is a tie after the first shootout, the same players will throw again without sweeping to
break the tie.
No-Tick Rule
No rocks within the free guard zone are allowed to be moved until the sixth rock of the end in
the fours games, and until the fourth thrown rock of the end in mixed doubles. If a stone is
ticked/moved, there are two options:
- The non-offending team can choose to leave the stones as they are and carry on with
the end. - Put all rocks back to where they were and take the shooter out of play.
If the players are not certain whether the free guard stone was moved, then it is considered to
have not moved and all rocks remain.
Blank Ends
Teams are allowed to blank an end only once per game in fours play. A second blank will result
in the loss of the hammer.
Any blank end in mixed doubles leads to the loss of the hammer as per normal rules.
Hog Line Challenges
The shooter must release their stone before reaching the hog line. Each team will have one hog
line challenge per game.
If the team is successful, the rock in question will be removed and all rocks will return to where
they were, and the team will keep its challenge.
If the team is unsuccessful, all rocks will remain where they are. The team will lose their
challenge, and will also lose one timeout, or one minute from their clock if they are out of
timeouts.
Note: Rock League will be testing the hog line challenge internally Monday to Friday, with the
intention of implementing it in full force for Saturday and Sunday matches.
Tiebreaker for Rankings
There are no tiebreaker matches. Total franchise points for the week will be used to break any
ties in the standings.
Pre-game Practice
Practice starts 20 minutes before game time for all fours games. Practice starts 17 minutes
before game time for mixed doubles.
Teams will practice at the same time — one team per side of the sheet. Two rocks up and two
rocks back per player in the fours, and three rocks up and three rocks back per player in mixed
doubles. Timed at 15 minutes total for fours, and 12 minutes total for mixed doubles.
The franchise with red rocks will practice on the left side of the sheet “going away.”
Rock Selection
Rock colour is predetermined for all games — one colour per franchise per match.
Hammer
Hammer is determined by a coin flip. Whichever franchise wins the coin flip gets the hammer in
the mixed doubles game and one of the men’s fours or women’s fours games.
Saturday: Each franchise gets the hammer in one of the two mixed fours games per match. The
higher-seeded franchise gets to choose which game they want to start with the hammer in.
Sunday: Last rock is determined by seeding — the higher seed gets the choice of hammer or
rock colour (hammer in mixed doubles and one of the fours games).
General Managers
General Managers can interact with their teams at any time and are allowed anywhere in the
field of play at any time, except for on the ice. GMs can adjust their lineups between ends within
a game, across all formats in a match. Players cannot move between games (e.g., fours to
mixed doubles), except on Saturday for mixed fours.
GMs must submit lineups for the next day’s matches no later than 30 minutes after the
completion of the final match each day. By 9 p.m. local time on the Sunday night before Day 1.
Mixed Fours
Each franchise will put together two mixed fours teams, made up of two men and two women,
chosen by the General Manager. Lineups need to be submitted to the Officials within 30
minutes of the completion of the final matches on Friday night.
Positions on each team must alternate man-woman-man-woman, or woman-man-woman-man
at all times. Teams may utilize any sweeping order they wish.
Substitutions are allowed only at the completion of an end, before the next end starts. Only the
two players from the bench can move into the games — players cannot move from one game to
the other without first going to the bench. Players who are subbed out of one game, must be on
the bench for at least one FULL end before they can be subbed back into either game.
The lineup order can be changed at the completion of any end by the GMs, as long as the order
stays M-F-M-F or F-M-F-M. GMs and Officials need to be in contact to confirm substitutions.
There are no minimum or maximum substitutions — it is at the GM’s discretion.
Super Spares
Rock League will have two super spares on hand to join any of the franchises for the first
season, should injuries or unforeseen circumstances arise:
- Linda Stenlund
- Mattia Giovanella

There will be two on-ice officials — their decisions are final.
