Rock League Unveils Star-Studded Rosters and Team Names for Curling’s First Professional Season

DECEMBER 16, 2025 – Meet the teams and the stars of curling’s new era. Rock League today unveiled the full athlete rosters and team names for all six franchises set to take the ice in April 2026, marking the debut of curling’s first professional league. Rock League also announced the general managers who will lead each team throughout its inaugural season.

The original six franchises include Maple United (Canada), Shield Curling Club (Canada), Frontier Curling Club (USA), Northern United (Europe), Alpine Curling Club (Europe), and Typhoon Curling Club (Asia-Pacific).

Each roster features five women and five men, establishing Rock League as the world’s first truly mixed-gender professional sports league. A minimum of sixty percent of the athletes originate from the team’s region. To ensure competitive balance in the league’s first season, up to four import players were permitted per team. In total, the 2026 rosters represent athletes from 12 countries and include a combined 21 Olympic medals.

The general managers were selected for their strong ties to the regions they will oversee and will be responsible for roster management, coaching leadership, and day-to-day team operations. The GMs include Eve Muirhead (Alpine Curling Club), JD Lind (Typhoon Curling Club), Glenn Howard (Maple United), Carter Rycroft (Shield Curling Club), Christoffer Svae (Northern United), and Chris Plys (Frontier Curling Club). Rock League strategic advisors and Olympic gold medallists Jennifer Jones and John Morris created and oversaw the development of rosters and GM appointments.

“Building these rosters was an opportunity to showcase the incredible depth and diversity of curling talent around the world,” said Jennifer Jones, Rock League strategic advisor. “Our goal was to create teams that are competitive, entertaining, and reflective of their home regions, while also ensuring a level playing field for the league’s first season. We believe these lineups set the foundation for an exciting new era in our sport.”

“This was a chance to help shape something truly new for curling,” added John Morris, Rock League Strategic Advisor. “The talent we’ve got here is energetic and seriously impressive. The dynamics of these new teams are going to lift the sport in a fresh way that fans haven’t seen before.”
